The Milwaukee Symphony Chorus is seeking new singers for the 2022.23 Season. Audition dates will be April 28 & 30, May 12 & 14, and June 11, 2022.
Auditions are by appointment only and include a classical or art song vocal solo of your choice, a chromatic vocalise and pitch-matching exercise, some simple sight-singing, and an optional prepared passage from Handel’s Messiah.
The Milwaukee Symphony Chorus, founded in 1976, is known and respected as one of the finest choruses in the country. The 150-member volunteer chorus has been praised by reviewers for “technical agility,” “remarkable ensemble cohesion,” and “tremendous clarity.” Under the direction of Dr. Cheryl Frazes Hill, the 2022.23 chorus season with the MSO will include three works by Brahms (Schicksalslied, Gesang der Parzen, and Academic Festival Overture), the immensely popular Messiah, the magnificent oratorio Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn, the ethereal finale “Neptune” on Gustav Holst’s masterwork The Planets (for smaller women’s chorus), and to cap off the season, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, known as the “Resurrection” Symphony.
The Milwaukee Symphony Chorus rehearses and performs in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s beautiful new home, the Bradley Symphony Center, in downtown Milwaukee, WI.
