John Stainer’s “The Crucifixion” orchestration!

March 12, 2026 by Craig Hawkins Leave a Comment

Over 20 years ago I set out to orchestrate this beloved work from the standard choral repertoire. This piece has been performed throughout the United States and even had a premier in England.

A Preview of the first movement is here: https://www.scoreexchange.com/scores/crucifixion-1-and-they-came-to-a-place-named-gethsemane-65374.html with the other movements linked below it.

I am selling the complete score and parts for $400, shipping included. This includes the score printed on heavy paper, spiral bound (for silent page turns and to lay flat on your stand), and enough parts for a 20 piece orchestra (fl, ob, cl, bsn, trpt, timp, vln 1, 2, vla, vc, db) representative of what Stainer may have used himself, had he done his own orchestration. The parts are printed on 11″x17″ paper, staple bound.

Purchase requests my be emailed to me at or via text message at 607 621 8920 and may be paid either via PayPal or CashApp. I am also happy to answer questions regarding my work either via email or text as well.

Happy Easter to all of you. May God’s love bless your music ministry.
