Flushing Community Chorus: Mozart’s Requiem

July 7, 2016 by Michelle Fuchs Leave a Comment

The Schiller Institute will present Mozart’s Requiem at a series of performances this September in honor of the victims of the tragic attacks of September 11, 2001. This incredible last work of Mozart is an appropriate offering in memorial for the almost 3000 people who died that day. We also present it as a tribute to the families of the victims, many of whom have fought tirelessly for justice against the perpetrators of those evil acts.

We seek sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses who wish to participate in the rehearsal process and concert(s). Our chorus will also be working on several American Negro Spirituals, which will be presented at smaller concerts over the summer. The Schiller Institute has several choruses in the New York area, all of which will come together for this great event. Brooklyn is our newest chorus, so now is great time to jump in!

Here is a most recent concert:

Flushing:
TUESDAYS ∙ 6:30 pm — 8:00 pm: Flushing Schiller Institute Chorus rehearsal

Brooklyn:
We meet every Wednesday 7-8:30pm in the Red Hook area. Our chorus director also gives a class in solfege and music-reading before chorus 6:30pm-7:00pm, which everyone is welcome (not required) to attend.

Manhattan:
THURSDAYS ∙ 6:30 pm — 8:00 pm: Manhattan Schiller Institute Chorus rehearsal

Amateurs and Professionals alike are welcome! As Friedrich Schiller identified, “It is through beauty that one proceeds to freedom.” Helga Zepp-LaRouche, wife of economist Lyndon LaRouche, founded the Schiller Institute over 30 years ago to fight for the beauty of mankind.

All rehearsals and concerts are done at the Verdi scientific tuning of A=432 Hz.

Please call or email for more information. If you choose email, please include a good contact phone number, so we can talk. 571-439-4769
