Ember’s full season is produced in both NYC and NJ.

Ember singer backgrounds range from professional opera singers to cabaret performers to highly experienced amateurs. Solo technique is supported in the approach to ensemble tone, and soloists are selected exclusively from within the ensemble. Voices of all sizes are welcome to audition. Prospective members should possess strong reading and ensemble skills, be comfortable with flexible/interactive performance styles, and have excellent intonation.

For schedule and other info about the audition process and upcoming season, and to request an audition, visit EmberEnsemble.org.

Ember draws membership from an unusually wide geographical radius. Rehearsal venues are centralized and transit-accessible: Jersey City (4 blocks from JSQ PATH; free parking lot) and Greenwich Village (near 9th Street PATH and 14th Street on the 1-2-3 line).  Venues of performing residence are in Greenwich Village and Montclair, NJ.

Season November 11, 2017 – November 11, 2018

in commemoration of the centennial anniversary of WWI Armistice.

Ember is a proud member of the New York Choral Consortium.

Led by Dr. Deborah Simpkin King, Ember singers share a spiritual curiosity about the deeper meaning of existence, and explore that curiosity as an ensemble through singing music by living composers, programmed around socially pertinent topics. Ember is the performing element of the non-profit choral, advocacy and education organization founded in 1995 as Schola Cantorum on Hudson, sponsor of the renowned PROJECT : ENCORE™.
