I have been creating quality practice recordings for my choirs for quite some time now and I would like to offer my services to any other choral directors who aren’t quite so tech-savvy. My high school students have improved exponentially since I started requiring them to practice with these recordings. Many students do not have the ability or resources to take their music home and practice with a piano, but almost all students have at least one internet-connected device. With my recordings, that’s all you need! Here’s how it works… you send me a pdf scan of your score (if you don’t know how to do that I can help.) I’ll take a look at it and get back to you ASAP for pricing. Most SATB songs under five minutes in length will be $30. If you would like multiple songs we can work out a package deal. I’ll send you a sample track for you to proof, then if you’re satisfied you pay me through PayPal and I’ll send you the full package. The full practice recording package includes an accompaniment recording, a mixed recording (all the parts and accompaniment), part-alone recordings (i.e. just the alto part and accompaniment), and part-dominant recordings (i.e. alto part loudest in the right ear with other parts quieter in the left ear.) These recordings are all made with the latest Garritan virtual samples, which means that the choir parts are either “ah” “oo” or “children’s ah.” Unfortunately there is no way to record with lyrics. This used to frustrate me, but I find it’s better for my students to practice without words. It forces them to read the music and be a bit more mentally astute rather than just singing along with another singer. Once you have the recordings all you need to do is post them online (I use Google Classroom) and give your singers access to them. The best part… IT’S EASY TO USE! I’ve even made practice recordings for my church choir, the majority of whom are a bit older than the “tech generation,” and they loved it! You can easily burn these recordings onto a CD and hand them out if that is what your singers would prefer. Check out some examples of my work…
Rutter – Candlelight Carol – Soprano Dominant
Brahms – Ein Dunkeler Schacht – Liebeslieder No. 16 – Accompaniment
I’m a big advocate of technology in the choral rehearsal. It can seem daunting at first, but if you and your choir take that first step, it can be very rewarding. If you have any questions feel free to email me at or check out my website at TedWGibson.com where you can see more examples of my work.

Antoine DESSEN says
There is an “approach”, an experiment in a french site
called
“Harmony assistant” (type it),
developed by a french staff,
allowing to hear some
lyrics sung with Finale pdf.
Sure, it’s vocoder style, a little mechanical, but can, may-be (?) can help.
I wanted just to inform you.
Evidently, I should be glad
that Finale could develop some stuff,
but,
it’s only for vocal music
which is not the principal way of making music.
The best
