The Boston Symphony Chorus invites audiences to experience the timeless majesty of Handel’s Messiah, paired with a collection of uplifting American spirituals. The performance will be conducted by music director Jonathan Pierce on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the First Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Handel’s Messiah, first performed in Dublin in 1742, remains one of the most beloved choral masterpieces. With its soaring “Hallelujah” chorus and deeply moving arias, it continues to draw audiences worldwide every holiday season.
This special evening will also highlight traditional American spirituals arranged for choir, including Swing Low, Sweet Chariot and Soon Ah Will Be Done. Featured soloists include soprano Emily Rivera, tenor James Whitfield, and bass Marcus Green.
