Baritone section leader

The Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion in University City, MO (St. Louis) is looking for a Baritone section leader, beginning immediately.  Rehearsals are Thursday evenings (7:15-9:00-ish) and Sunday services (9:30AM rehearsal, 10:30AM service). Our choir season runs from September through May, summers off, with solo opportunities available throughout the year. Responsibilities also include weekly Sunday services, Advent Lessons & Carols service, two Christmas Eve service, Ash Wednesday, the Triduum, and occasional Evensongs. We have a very experienced, dedicated choir of 15 members. Repertoire includes a variety of styles, including gospel, contemporary pieces, world music, classical works, and Anglican anthems.

 
Pay is $35/rehearsal, $40/service, to be paid bi-monthly.
 
Education: Four-year degree in music, or equivalent professional training and experience.
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the mission and purpose of the Choir, which is to serve the congregation in leading worship. This is a community of Christian faith. We cultivate a nurturing environment while striving for musical excellence.
  • Together with the volunteer Bass section leader, you would provide supportive leadership of the section at scheduled rehearsals and worship-performances by thorough knowledge of the music and attention to all directions in rehearsal. Provide score notes to absentees in the bass section.
  • Model good etiquette in rehearsals and in worship services.
  • Lead sectional rehearsals, at the discretion of the Director of Music.
     
    Qualifications:
  • Excellent choral singing skills and experience.
  • Ability to vary vocal timbre.
  • Ability to lead sectional rehearsals.
  • Excellent sight-reading skills.
  • Dependability and punctuality.
  • Ability to work with trained and non-trained musicians in a supportive environment.
  • Cooperative spirit.
