The Oriana Consort seeks experienced singers in all voice parts to join our choral group as we begin Sunday evening rehearsals on September 15 toward performances on December 7, 8, and 13 of a program to include Bach’s Motet BWV 225, Singet dem Herrn; Brahms’ Motet Op. 74 #2, O Heiland, reiss die Himmel auf; Verdi’s Ave Maria from the Quattro Pezzi Sacri; Kirke Mechem’s Island in Space; and Nativity carols by Libby Larsen, Ola Gjeilo, Philip Stopford, Cecilia McDowall, and James MacMillan. Our season will continue in 2020 with performances on April 26, May 1, and May 3 of Martin’s Mass for Double Choir; Bach’s Cantata BWV 4, Christ lag in Todesbanden; and recent works by Emily Koh and Kelvyn Koning.
Oriana is an accomplished chorale of close to 30 singers, with an eclectic repertory, enthusiastic audiences, and a warm and attractive sound. Visit www.orianaconsort.org and click LISTEN to hear our audio clips. We seek good-to-excellent readers with clear, center-of-the-pitch voices that work well with the group. Soloists are always drawn from the membership. To schedule a half-hour audition in Cambridge, please email Walter Chapin at , summarizing your choral and solo experience. You’ll join a quartet of Oriana members to read excerpts from our repertory and sing a brief but fairly difficult choral part that you’ll prepare two days in advance. Bring a solo of your choice. Your audition will take place either on one of the dates shown, or on a date to be arranged.
