For those who love to sing, there is little that is more satisfying than hearing voices joining together in song. Minnetonka Choral Society (MCS) offers those in the western metro area of Minneapolis/St. Paul a music group to do just that. Our singers enjoy learning new music as well as returning to old standards on occasion for our two performances held annually in the spring and autumn. Members of the MCS return year after year, a few for over 50 years!
Auditions are held by appointment early Tuesday evenings at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie. Auditions are with the music director, Jere Lantz. Potential members should prepare to sing for the audition a short song that demonstrates their vocal range. An accompanist will be provided at no charge. Auditions may also include sight-reading of a basic hymnal choral harmony part.
To set an audition appointment, email us at . (Please include your mobile telephone number so we can text you and check your spam folder for our response, so we are sure to reach you!) You can also call us at (952) 476-1922 to schedule your audition time!
Currently rehearsals are 7pm to 9:30pm at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 13600 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344. No rehearsals are held in summer months. We strongly encourage all members receive Covid vaccination and boosters. Masking will be optional, UNLESS community transmission levels go to the high level based on CDC data.
As a self-supporting non-profit music group, Minnetonka Choral Society asks that members help contribute to the costs of the organization. Singers pay $50 in dues per semester and pay for their own copies of the music, which are theirs to keep. Members are also asked to assist with fundraising. If expenses present a financial burden for a singer, MCS is happy to work with them to find a solution. Cost should not be seen as a barrier to participating.
