Ember welcomes accomplished choral singers who are drawn to ambitious repertoire, purposeful programming, and the distinctive experience of creating music within a deeply committed artistic community.
The Ember Family brings together highly qualified avocational singers and professionally trained musicians who share a love of excellent choral singing—and who value the preparation, responsiveness, and shared artistic responsibility that excellence requires.
Under the direction of Deborah Simpkin King, Ember performs music spanning traditions, cultures, and styles, with a particular commitment to living composers and works that engage thoughtfully with the world around us. Singers have opportunities to work directly with composers, explore music of genuine substance, and contribute to performances in which text, programming, and human connection matter.
The 2026–27 season, called Seeking Stability, opens with “GLOW: Healing and Connections,” December 4th (NYC) and 6th (Asbury Park, NJ): a wide-ranging program exploring reconciliation, the shared human need for connection, and symbols of light across cultures and traditions through which we can rejoice in resolution of former divisions.
We invite experienced ensemble singers in all voice parts to audition for a season of challenging music, meaningful collaboration, and artistry as can only be made ensemble.
For more information and to request and audition on September 9th, visit EmberArts.org/auditions.
