Summer Intensive for Choral Directors and Teachers

in residence at
Music Academy of the West | Santa Barbara, CA

YPC National is excited to collaborate with the CME Institute to offer a professional development residency for choral directors and teachers. Studying with both Doreen Rao of CME and Francisco J. Núñez of YPC, this experience will give choral music professionals the opportunity to:

• Hone conducting gestures, enhance score analysis skills, and learn to integrate vocal pedagogy into rehearsals through interactive workshops

• Refine conducting skills and techniques in masterclasses with the YPC National Lab chorus

• Receive individualized instruction from faculty-in-residence and the YPC artistic staff to gain valuable professional insights

• Engage in meaningful discussions centered around repertoire and current trends in choral music practices

• Rehearse, workshop, and perform in the world premiere of a newly commissioned work by electronics instrumentalist, composer, producer, and YPC National’s 2024 Composer in Residence, Yuka C. Honda

• Attend concerts, cultural events and outings in gorgeous Santa Barbara

• Make new and lasting connections with choral colleagues from around the country
