Dr. Weinert has conducted throughout Europe, the United States and the Far East, presented conducting master classes in North America, Europe and Asia, and frequently conducted opera and symphonic repertoire. He has published articles on the music of Brahms, Bruckner and Georg Schumann, as well as Geistliche Gesäng und Melodeyen: a Critical Edition with Commentary, an edition of twenty-four motets by the prominent baroque composer Melchior Franck. Between 1998 and 2011 he was editor of The American Choral Review, the journal of the American Choral Foundation.
Dr. Weinert will join master teachers Robert Gutter, Ovidiu Balan and Charles Gambetta from June 20-July 2, 2015 for the Institute’s Conducting Choral Masterpieces workshop, a new program designed to provide conductors with opportunities that most choral and instrumental curricula are not able to offer. The workshop repertoire includes the Mozart Requiem, Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem and the Poulenc Gloria. Participating conductors will each receive 200+ minutes of instructional time on the podium including sessions with piano sextet and vocal quartet, full chorus with piano sextet, full orchestra and orchestra with full chorus; and all conductors will perform on two of 4 public concerts.
