Music in My Mother’s House reminds me of my grandparents at the piano and saxophone
on a Sunday evening. Happy memories. The renowned women’s ensemble Anonymous 4
sings plainchant from Los Huelgas Codex, c. 1300. Leon Boellman (1862-97) wrote a small
number of organ compositions of which Suite Gothique is the best known.

Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) was a writer, composer, philosopher,
Christian mystic and Benedictine abbess. This arrangement of Jesu, Joy of
Man’s Desiring was written for a cappella choir by Margaret Dryburgh and Norah
Chambers while interned in a Japanese women’s prison camp during World War II.
Indiana-born Daniel Gawthorp (1949- ) composed mainly choral music.

St. Sulpice in Paris. The Abbey Church of Saint Michel is located in Kergonan
in Brittany, France. Catharine Crozier (1914-2003) was one of the great virtuoso
