Cristobal de Morales (c1500-1553) wrote two motets based on this text:
this one for five voices and another for eight voices. “Andreas Christi
famulus, dignus Dei Apostolus” translates as “Andrew, the servant of
Christ and God’s worthy Apostle”. (Being a Canadian of Scottish
extraction, I could not resist juxtaposing St. Andrew with St. Patrick
whose feast day it is on Monday, March 17. I hope you will forgive me.)

This 14th century mass appears to be the first setting of the mass written
as an entire composition. Apparently the music of the mass used to be
chosen from a variety of sources according to the whims and inclinations
of the celebrant.

The longest of Bach’s motets “Jesus, my Joy and Treasure” was most likely
not performed in church but rather at the graveside of a prominent
citizen.
