Wellesley College on North German baroque instruments. Alessandro
Striggio (c.1536–1592) was an Italian musician who enjoyed the patronage
of the Medici family. Hildegard von Bingen (1098–1179) was an abbess and
mystic.

Some knowledgable people considered Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel (1805–1847)
more talented than her young brother Felix. Supposedly Tallis wrote his 40 voice
motet to outdo Allesandro Striggio who had visited London with his own remarkable
40 voice motet “Ecce beatam lucem” which we heard earlier this morning.

Jean Guillou (1930- ) was a student of Marcel Dupré, Maurice Duruflé
and Olivier Messiaen. “Deo gratias” by Johannes Ockeghem (1410/1425–1497)
is a 36 voice canon. Eric Plutz, a native of Rock Island, Illinois, is presently
University Organist at Princeton University.

A remarkable piece, it is scored for 40 voices except for the Agnus

The great 5 manual von Beckerath organ was restored recently to its original
glory. The large principal pipes in the facade had begun to collapse under their own weight.
