Acclaimed women’s choral ensemble VOX Femina Los Angeles presents its 20th anniversary season, Woman Rising!
Lauded for their tremendous vocal talents and for giving women voice through the performance of quality choral literature from women composers,
VOX is pulling out all the stops for this landmark 20th Anniversary Season with three incredible subscription concerts.
The first concert, “VOX20: Reflections,” is a celebration
of VOX’s history, alumnae and champions. The concert will be held at Zipper Concert Hall at the Colburn
School on November 19th and will feature special guests and alumnae from the VOX family tree, as well as a
commission by Christina Whitten Thomas.
On March 19th we celebrate the present in “Sacred and Profane.”
Hosted by community partners First Congregational Church of Los Angeles, “Sacred and Profane” features performances by FCCLA’s Christoph Bull on the world’s largest pipe organ, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, and the Culver City Middle School Voicestra Choir. While the first half of the concert honors the sacred with spiritual themes, the second half lets loose with Carl Orff’s renown and dramatic “Carmina Burana.”
The third and final concert, “Women on the Rise” (June 10th at the Zipper Concert Hall), looks to the future with a dynamic new commission by Jocelyn Hagen and will feature graduates of our first annual Choral Scholar Program.
