ACDA’s National Convention in Chicago will offer an unprecedented array of opportunities for musicians who serve congregations. The traditional convention activities will be stellar: An Ecumenical Service led by John Ferguson, in the beautiful Rockefeller Chapel at the University of Chicago; a Reading Session in which the majority of the pieces will be conducted by their composers; a roundtable discussion on the topic of the choral music of the African-American church. And newly-created offerings will demonstrate ACDA’s commitment to creativity and quality in serving as a resource to this important group of choral conductors: a Shabbat Service, featuring the renowned cantor, Alberto Mizrahi; a full day of Immersion in Church Music on Saturday, with two concerts, a panel discussion featuring denominational music leaders, and four highly-relevant interest sessions.
Church musicians who need to lead Ash Wednesday services can still get to Chicago on Thursday in time for all the concerts and sessions listed above.
Don’t miss this great opportunity. See you in Chicago!
