Unmuted: Music History in a New Key

July 24, 2025 by EquitySings Leave a Comment

Equity Sings is proud to announce the launch of Unmuted, a poster series that intentionally re-centers what we teach, who we honor, and how we tell the story of music!

This vibrant poster series celebrates composers and songwriters whose identities and contributions have been historically excluded from history and the canon. We’re elevating the composers whose stories deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated — because uplifting every voice is how equity sings.

Designed for classrooms, rehearsal spaces, and creative communities, each poster features a QR code that links to a growing library of learning tools. These resources include composer biographies, audio recordings and performance links, and classroom resources.

These posters are the kind of representation many of us didn’t have, but every student and creative deserves to see. Whether you’re an educator, artist, or advocate, Unmuted helps make music history more honest, inclusive, and inspiring.
