New Pastorals!
Award-winning composer Travis M. Ramsey is offering two new pastoral settings for your choir. If you’re looking for music for your next season inspired by nature, look no further! (Pastoral settings come easy to us composers up here in New England.)
When the Nightingale Sings was commissioned by ChoralArt (Portland, Maine) and is based on a 14th Century poem. Accompanied by flute and piano, it tells the tale of a forlorn lover and his maiden. Lush harmonies and moderate ranges, approx. 7:00 duration.
Among the Branches was premiered by Vermont’s professional chorus Counterpoint in July 2022. It is a setting of Vermont poet Jim Schley’s poem of the same name. Introspective and poignant, it speaks of war, sorrow, life’s lessons, and Vermont’s beautiful trees. SATB with piano, approx. 5:00.
Both pieces are available directly from the composer for a reasonable fee, either as print copies or PDFs and a digital performance license. Free perusal scores are available as well. Contact for more information.
