Two gorgeous, award-winning Christmas carols available now for Christmas 2023

January 7, 2023 by Travis Ramsey Leave a Comment

It’s not deja vu – you read this last week.  This one corrects a bad link for Little Lamb.

Introducing When the Stars of Morning Sang and Little Lamb, Who Made Thee, two award-winning carols for your Christmas 2023 season! I hope you will choose them for your choir.

When the Stars of Morning Sang was the winner of the New England Carol Competition in 2018. It is an a capella work (SATB) of about 4 minutes duration. Stars of Morning is a gentle, intimate manger hymn that features rich, luscious harmonies. Recording credit: ChoralART

Little Lamb, Who Made Thee was the winner of VocalEssence’s Welcome Christmas Carol Contest in 2019. Little Lamb is scored for SATB voices with a solo violin. It was described as “a beautiful combination of richly textured vocal harmonies and … equally arresting violin lines.” Like Stars, it is intimate and lovely, but it has a more earthly, folk-like quality. Both carols are available as either a set of printed octavos or a digital performance license with emailed PDFs. Please contact for more information.

Travis Ramsey is a NH-based composer whose catalog includes chamber music and works for chorus and orchestra. Among these are three Magnificat settings, stirring works for brass and chorus such as On The Night You Were Born, song cycles such as Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird and American Trinity (Walt Whitman), Loomings (an orchestra work based on Moby Dick), and a full setting of The Waste Land for chorus, orchestra, and soloists.

Thank you for your interest,

Travis Ramsey Composer
