TV Documentary on Regional Choral Life

December 8, 2010 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — WGBY will celebrate the living choral
tradition of our area by showcasing up to 50 non-professional
choral ensembles in the new 10-week TV series “Together in Song: A
Celebration of Choral Music in Western New England.”

“Together in Song” will premiere in the spring of 2011, and air
on Saturday evenings. Each episode will feature choral groups from
each of the five categories (grade school, high school, college,
adult up to 24 voices, adult 25-125 voices). As the season unfolds,
judges and viewers will vote for their favorites in each category,
and finalists will perform in a spectacular, 2-day festival which
will be broadcast live in May 2011.

Those eligible to participate are musical groups dedicated to
the enjoyment of choral music, and who are based in WGBY’s service
area: Western Massachusetts, northern Connecticut, southern Vermont
and New Hampshire.
