Top-class artists attend the 8th World Choir Games in Riga

The internationally renowned a-cappella vocal ensembles The King’s Singers (Great Britain) and The Real Group (Sweden) as well as the celebrated composer Morten Lauridsen will be present at the World Choir Games (WCG) 2014. This was announced by the organizers of the WCG 2014 this morning at a press conference in the Great Hall of University of Latvia.
 
“The King’s Singers and The Real Group” not only will perform concerts but also hold workshops for conductors and participants”, Romans Vanags, artistic director of the World Choir Games 2014 informed the journalists.
 
The renowned American composer Morten Lauridsen will attend a World Choir Games for the second time already. “The 2012 World Choir Games inspired Morten Lauridsen so much that he promised directly to come back in 2014. It makes us proud that he will actually be there again”, says Piroska Horváth, project director of the WCG 2014. The World Choir Games 2014 will see the premiere of Lauridsen’s new composition “Lux Eterna” for boys choirs.
 
Also the press conference marked the launch of the new website of the World Choir Games 2014. The most important information on Riga and the WCG can now be found on www.singriga.lv.
 
The 8th World Choir Games take place July 9 to 19, 2014 in Riga, Latvia. Riga is also European Capital of Culture 2014. Its largest and most significant event is the World Choir Games. Please find more information about the event and registration here.
