Togni mass debuts in Latvia

December 27, 2011 by Allen H Simon Leave a Comment

The musical spotlight in Latvia’s capital city shines on Halifax composer, pianist and organist Peter Togni this week.

On Thursday evening in Riga’s St. Saviour’s Anglican Church, the Latvian Youth Choir Balsis will premiere his latest choral composition, Missa Liberationis.

Togni is the only non-Latvian composer to be tagged for the international touring choir’s ambitious Missa a capella commissioning and recording project. Another Canadian composer in the project is Imant Raminsh, who was born in Latvia.
