The Roger Wagner Chorale, under the direction of Jeannine Wagner, will launch The Roger Wagner Chorale Goodwill Tour 2017 with a free concert hosted by Wagner Ensemble. The program offers a preview of The Roger Wagner Chorale’s 16-day tour to Japan and South Korea featuring local arrangers Jan Sanborn, Eli Villanueva, and a commissioned work by Richard Tuttobene. Arirang by South Korean arranger Yoon Joo Hwang will also be featured. The tour will include a benefit concert for the city of Koriyama, Fukushima that was devastated six years ago by a 9.0 earthquake, resulting in a 30 meter tsunami that claimed the lives of more than 16,000 people.
Now in its 70th year, The Roger Wagner Chorale (RWC), under the auspices of The Roger Wagner Choral Institute, continues the work of its founder with a fresh new artistic vision and mission for the 21st century. Under the baton of his daughter Jeannine Wagner, founder of the Wagner Ensemble, RWC is renowned for the Roger Wagner signature choral style and top quality musicianship. The repertoire features Roger Wagner’s American and World folk song classics, along with contemporary and classical world music.
