January 26, 2011 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

By Andrew Druckenbrod

The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale has hired Susan Medley as its
music director.

Dr. Medley is director of choral activities and associate
professor of music at Washington & Jefferson College. She also
leads the Junior Mendelssohn Choir and is the associate conductor
of the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh.

Under her direction, the W&J Camerata Singers performed at
Carnegie Hall and in 2010 won the American Prize in Choral
Performance, College/University Division. She will begin her
directorship of the 90-member community choir later this month and
conduct its next concert, a performance of Haydn’s “The Creation”
on Feb. 5 and 6.
