The Cathedral Choir receives $50,000 annual grant.
Since the falling asleep of our beloved Choir Director, Dino Anagnost, our Cathedral Choir has risen to the challenge and earned the respect and praise of many, including His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, other ecclesiastical dignitaries, parishioners, and visitors. In his first letter to the Corinthians (3:8) the Apostle Paul says, “The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor.” The choir, through their hard work and under the leadership of Music Director Gus Chrysson, has diligently and faithfully watered the vineyard.
While the ultimate reward we all await is not of this world, our choir has received an immediate reward. An anonymous Greek Orthodox Christian, who has long been an admirer of the Cathedral Choir, has come forward to underwrite and support our Cathedral Music Ministry with an annual grant of $50,000. This is open-ended and will be renewed annually as long as this ministry continues to adhere to the high standards for which it has long been known.
We are deeply grateful to this individual. And congratulations to our choir! Their efforts have brought honor and distinction to our Archdiocesan Cathedral, His Eminence, and our Orthodox Christian Faith. In addition to magnifying the worship experience on Sundays and feast days, the Cathedral Music Ministry sponsors the Cathedral Concert Series and numerous workshops, and enjoys a partnership with Juilliard.
If any parishioner would like to support the Cathedral Music Ministry, please contact Fr. Anastasios or Gus Chrysson.
