The First Inter-District Choral Exchange Program

April 19, 2011 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

PLAINVILLE, CT — Students from Berlin, Bristol and
Plainville participated in the first Inter-District Choral Exchange
Program on Friday, April 8. One hundred middle school students
raised their voices for a special collaborative inter-district
festival. Under the direction of Corinne Terlecky from McGee Middle
School in Berlin, members of the Sound Express were excited to host
students from neighboring communities to share their joy of
singing.

First to arrive were The Chamber Singers from the Middlle School
of Plainville, under the direction of music instructor Todd
Helming. Students quickly warmed up their voices with the beautiful
Amy Bernon piece, “She Sings.” Director Angela Lomaglio was next to
appear with The Harmonizers from Chippens Hill Middle School and
brought their energy to the classic Paul Simon song “Bridge Over
Troubled Water.”

Students shared lunch together and then regrouped for a workshop
led by Plainville High School Choral Director Jeff Blanchette. Mr.
Blanchette prepared two pieces that would feature all three
ensembles.
