Swazi bank supports choral music in Swaziland

YET again, Standard Bank has sponsored E210 000 towards the 2011
Standard Bank Choral Music Championship [ed. note: about
US$31,700]

As part of the competition, soloist eliminations started over
the weekend, where 24 made it for the finals to be held on April 9
at Esibayeni Lodge (Esangweni).

Last year’s sponsorship was also E210 000.

Swaziland National Choral Music Association (SNCMA) PRO Phindile
Mabuza cornfirmed the reports, adding that they were happy with the
sponsorship.

“I would like to thank Standard Bank for the support they have
shown us over the years. Such competition raises the standard of
music in the country.

Over the past years we have seen conductors and choristers
improving. We hope that again this year, it will be an event full
of sweet melodies and fun,” she said.

final Mabuza further said choirs should start preparing
themselves for the finals.

She congratulated the soloist who made it on Saturday, saying
they should brace themselves for a stiff final because they would
be against last years defending champions.

She says on the said date, mixed choirs would be competing
against each other.

According to the PRO, the mixed choir category is divided
into two sections; the standard section where the choir members are
40 and the large section where members are 60.
