The Susquehanna Chorale will present its traditional Candlelight Christmas concert series on Dec. 16, 17 and 18, 2022.
The Chorale is a nationally acclaimed adult chamber ensemble of 40 auditioned singers, founded in 1981 by Artistic Director and Conductor Linda L. Tedford.
The Chorale’s majestic opening processional, Personent Hodie, sets the stage for a spectacular holiday concert. Their featured selection is the three-movement work of John Rutter’s magnificent Gloria, accompanied by organ, brass and percussion. The reverence of the season will be captured in Jim Clements’ Gabriel’s Message and Eric Whitacre’s hauntingly beautiful Lux Aurumque. They will bring holiday cheer with Jerry Rubino’s setting of It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, and a whimsical performance of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Traditional songs and carols will follow, including an audience sing-along of Mack Wilberg’s Joy to the World with brass and organ. As lights are dimmed and candles aglow, the Chorale will once again surrounded the audience for the traditional finale, Silent Night.
