Songs of David Choir reality show to unearth choral talent

December 12, 2010 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

A new reality show, Songs of David Choir reality show, is in
the offing with the sole aim of unearthing talents in choral music
in Ghana.

Sings of David Choir reality show is a competition designed to
showcase and reward the numerous choirs (church, school and
community) all over the country as well as discover the lesser
known singing groups.

In recent years, the likes of the Winneba Youth choir, Accra
Youth Choir, the Commissioned Family, Soul Winners, Tema Youth
Choir and many other choirs have entertained and thrilled audiences
at many major concerts and events.

This has brought to bare the fact that choirs in Ghana are still
looked upon with the general definition of a “chorus that sings as
part of a religious ceremony” even though research has shown that
there are over 1,000 choirs that operate as an arm of a church or
as a commercial group such as Accra Youth Choir, Winneba Youth
Choir etc.

It is in this vain that Multi TV and MPWA, a communications
outfit, have joined forces to create this pioneering music reality
show to unleash the “not so conservative” to their portfolio.

This choir competition is designed to inspire a new breed of
inspirational musicians who perform tunes with full components of
music. The competition aims at creating an alternative music group
(choir) that can perform in churches, and in other secular events;
back up performing artistes during concerts and many more.

The beauty and difference between this music competition and
existing ones is not in the secular-gospel distinction but rather
the message, harmony and complete understanding of music, which
“Songs of David” offers.
