Simple Gifts: Songs of the Shakers

The South Bend Chamber Singers presents a concert of Shaker music and dance on Sunday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Church of Loretto on the Saint Mary’s College campus. A wide variety of Shaker tunes in arrangements by American composers including Kevin Siegfried, Frank Ticheli, Jeffrey Douma, Wayland Rogers, William Hawley, Rene Clausen, James Bowyer, Ben Leggett, Brad Holmes and others will be presented. The program also includes the world premiere of a new Shaker arrangement by Daniel Elder, and Paul Crabtree’s The Valley of Delight, based on writings of Shaker founder Ann Lee.
