“sequel” to Peace oin Earth and lots of l;ittle crickets

September 6, 2011 by Paul Carey Leave a Comment

Following the overwhelming popularity over the last few years of my SA/percussion Walton publication “Peace on Earth…and lots of little crickets”, I’m happy to announce a sort of sequel to it. It’s an uptempo SA/piano arrangement of the American folk tune “Clap your Hands” which shares its melody with “Old Joe Clarke”. It was commissioned by David Baldwin of the International Christian School in Hong Kong for his festival last Spring where I conducted the premiere with the massed choirs.

The piece is a sequel in that, like Peace on Earth, it is lots of fun, uses some body percussion, but mostly because the added text is by my Peace on Earth collaborator from New Zealand, the creative yet reclusive Mr. Oliver Twigge. The piece is available for purchase through my website at www.paulcarey.net

Here is a wonderfully energetic youtube recording  by Courtney Connelley and her Lake Nona Middle School Choir  from May 2011:
