Santiago Veros, the composer, is nearing the end of a remarkable journey through Europe. We have witnessed and followed him on his social media platforms as he ventured through the UK, Spain, Italy, and other breathtaking destinations. In this magnificent expedition, he has had momentous encounters with notable figures. Personalities of the caliber of Juan Pablo de Juan, Eric Whitacre, Paul Mealor, Jonathan Talberg, Voces 8, The Gesualdo Six, Apollo 5, and Vox Anima, among others, have graced his path. All of this leaves us wondering, what initiatives will he surprise us with after concluding this tour?
As previously mentioned, Veros had the opportunity to witness the historic moment of the coronation of the King of England. Following that, the esteemed Royal Composer Paul Mealor, accompanied by Vox Anima, kindly invited him to an important concert in the realm. It was there that Apollo 5 delivered a mesmerizing performance, and Santiago received an invitation to collaborate with the Vox Anima agency for an upcoming concert.
For this grand concert, Veros is contemplating inviting Juan Pablo de Juan, one of the world’s finest choral directors, with whom he has already scheduled a collaboration in May 2024. Another consideration is Gesualdo Six, with whom he has rehearsed “Land of Angels,” “O Magnum Mysterium,” and “O Crux” during the initial part of his UK visit.
Beyond the United Kingdom, Santiago embarked on a leg of the tour with the Bob Cole Conservatory Chamber Choir and their incredible conductor, Jonathan Talberg. This experience served as a tremendous inspiration for their forthcoming work in Long Beach in October. Santiago assures us that we can expect exceptional material as the choir’s caliber is unparalleled, and the chemistry with Jonathan and his choir is truly vibrant. He concludes by saying, “When everything comes together, magic happens.”
In recent days, Veros announced that he would be taking a break with his close family in Mallorca. Afterward, he plans to travel to Peru to compose “Glaciares” and the first movement of his ambitious Mass, “Eternal Unity,” before commencing his tour of the USA from September to November.
As if all of this weren’t enough, Santiago brings us an incredible surprise. Despite his seemingly endless schedule, he has developed an album during his journey. Today, he announced the release of “Echoes of Unity,” a musical compilation that is already available on Spotify.
In his launch announcement, he expresses gratitude to remarkable figures such as his friend and collaborator Charles Anthony Silvestri, Phillip Swan, Morna Edmunson from Elektra Women’s Choir, and the great choirs of the USA. It appears that this material possesses the power to unite choirs from around the world. In his announcement, the composer stated, “This album is really valuable because it addresses the concept of human progress from community participation.”
Now, we can indulge in a contemplative summer moment, with the breezes creating a special atmosphere, accompanied by Santiago’s new music.
