REMEMBER by Stanley M. Hoffman

August 8, 2010 by Stanley M. Hoffman Leave a Comment

My SATB composition REMEMBER will be released by Oxford University Press in the autumn of 2010. I will announce the formal release of this title on ChoralNet once it begins to circulate. In the mean time, here is what OUP has to say about it. The text below is taken verbatim from their music bulletin “New publications July–December 2010.” Thank you very much for your consideration.

Remember
for SATB (with divisions) unaccompanied

This hauntingly beautiful ABA setting of a text by Christina Rossetti is tonal and at poignant parts slightly adventurous, for example in the harmonies in the B section. The simple, slow piece ends on a wonderfully soft tone, which, when combined with the remembrance theme, is sure to bring a comforting smile to a concert audience or congregation at a memorial service.
