Quebec singer to take GM reins of Chamber Choir

VANCOUVER, BC — Change is in the air in Vancouver’s choral community.

The most recent development is the appointment of Steven Bélanger as general manager of the Vancouver Chamber Choir.

Bélanger’s background as a singer and arts administrator includes positions with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, the Canadian Chamber Choir and the CBC.  Bélanger succeeds Violet Goosen, longtime Vancouver Chamber Choir general manager.  Goosen had an unprecedented 24-year tenure before her retirement this June.

The Vancouver Chamber Choir is one of a very select number of professional choirs in Canada. Since the inception of the Vancouver Chamber Choir, founder/ conductor Jon Washburn has effectively re-defined the nature of Canadian choral singing through his emphasis on full seasons of concerts, international touring, broadcasting and recording, an extensive commissioning program, and diverse outreach activities.
