BATTLE CREEK, MI — Making music has always been a part of Joel Snyder’s life. The Detroit native spent his childhood singing with his family in the church. His father, a Baptist minister, played the classical guitar and trombone while his mother played the piano.

“We would put on concerts of a cappella music and make professional recordings,” he said.

Snyder had the privilege of being able to learn music both at school and at home and his love for music continued on past his childhood. It gave him a ticket out of Michigan to see the world.

“I got the chance to travel out west with a musical group in college,” he said. “I have traveled all over southeast Michigan, 16 other states, as well as Ireland and Thailand giving concerts. I have seen places I never thought I would see. Music has opened up so many doors.”
