TRENTON, NJ — As a child growing up in Italy, Marco Frisina
knew he wanted to be a musician. As a young man, he realized he had
another vocation: the priesthood. Frisina realized he could
reconcile his two callings.
“I realized I could be a servant of God and serve Him through
the powerful medium of music and art,” he wrote through a
translator for an interview conducted via email. “So it was, and I
thank the Lord, because I consider it a great gift.”
Today, Frisina, now a monsignor, has earned acclaim as conductor
and composer of the Choir of the Diocese of Rome, also known as the
Choir of the Pope’s Diocese. Only a few weeks ago, the group
performed at the beatification ceremony for Pope John Paul
II.
