Plant City Community Choir announces its 5th annual Audition/Rehearsal for Disney’s Epcot Theme Park’s annual Candlelight Processional and Massed Choir.
The Rehearsal of the Audition pieces JOY TO THE WORLD and THE AWAKENING will take place SATURDAY JUNE 22, 2013, at SHILOH BAPTIST CHURCH, Plant City, Florida, from 9:00 am – 12 pm.
The AUDITION pieces be videotaped immediately following rehearsal. Disney will notify PCCC if the group has been selected by late August or early September 2013.
Singers do not have to be Plant City Community Choir members in order to participate at the Candlelight Processional.
Orchestra members do not have to be professional musicians.
The rehearsal schedule is designed to be manageable for all who are interested.
What is required for the singers?
A reasonable commitment is mandatory for rehearsals because Disney requires all music be memorized.
There is a $50 Registration Fee which covers supplies, copies, music, facilities’ use, charter buses, etc.
These fees are fairly priced, and if we are not accepted by Disney, $35 will be returned.
ALL singers must sing in the home concert, Christmas by Candlelight.
When are Rehearsals?
During the months of August through November, there will be a rehearsal on one Saturday of the month at a Plant City location, and one Sunday at the University of South Florida School of Music.
Singers are required to attend a minimum of 4 rehearsals.
What is required for the Orchestra?
The Plant City Community Choir hires individual instrumentalists to create a full orchestra for the Christmas By Candlelight home concert.
Chair placements and compensation are based upon audition and experience.
Instrumentalists are allowed to sing with the group at Epcot IF they have attended the required vocal rehearsals as well as orchestra rehearsals..
Audition:
High School and community players are required to audition for this ensemble.
College and professional musicians are not required to audition.
- Prepare marked measures of music that will be uploaded to website.
- Bring headshot (or current face picture of just musician) to audition.
- Bring abridged resume or list of musical accomplishments to audition.
- Sight-read additional passage provided at audition.
- Musicians will be notified by 9:00 PM September 22.
- Music will be distributed week ending September 28.
When are Rehearsals?
(rehearsals may be missed only for documentable academic reasons)
October 17 and 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM
November 7 and 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM
November 18 and 25 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM
December 2 from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M.
