MILFORD, PA — The Pike County Choral Society has named
Charles David Osborne as its next artistic director.
Osborne brings to the Choral Society a wealth of international
experience as a conductor, performer and composer.
A native of Suffern, N.Y., Osborne attended the Hartt College of
Music, where he was assistant to the director of choral activities,
Gerald Mack.
Osborne studied at the Juilliard School in New York under New
York City Opera conductor Vincent La Selva, and then embarked on an
international singing career, performing opera in the United States
and Germany, as an oratorio soloist in most of the major U.S.
venues, and working as a choral singer under Abraham Kaplan, Yakov
Bergman, Gerre Hancock and Richard Connolly, among others.
Osborne’s compositions are performed all over the world. He has
written four full-length oratorios, concertos for guitar, flute,
viola and harp, and about 200 pieces for voice and chorus. The
recording of his oratorio “Souls on Fire” features Leonard Nimoy as
the Storyteller.
