Pierced Hemisphere

November 29, 2013 by Cheryl Camm Leave a Comment

“Pierced Hemisphere” is inspired by Barbara Hepworth’s sculpture of the same name, and was commissioned by the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield, UK to be part of their Handling Collection. The recording, score, stones and activities are available for visitors to the gallery to use to enhance their understanding of this particular work.

It is scored for
  • SSA choir;
  • a 4th, much simpler vocal line which could be sung by any single voice type or mixed voices, or even children, perhaps;
  • Flugel horn (on my recording it is played on a cornet!)
  • Stones, marbles, gong – 2 players.

For the story of this piece of music with musical excerpt and a full recording:

Thank you,
I hope you enjoy the piece.
Best wishes,
Cheryl
