Award-winning transgender Mexican-American composer Mari Esabel Valverde has been commissioned by the American Choral Directors Association, Boston Choral Ensemble, Cantus, the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses, Los Angeles Master Chorale, One Voice Mixed Chorus, Portland’s Resonance Ensemble, Seattle Men’s and Women’s Choruses, the Texas Music Educators Association, and the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club. A native of North Texas, she holds degrees from St. Olaf College, the European American Musical Alliance in Paris, France, and San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She is a member of ASCAP and the American Choral Directors Association.

The award-winning compositions of Wayland Rogers are heard world-wide in concert halls, schools, churches and synagogues. His works have been performed in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Symphony Center/Chicago, Ishihara Hall/Osaka, Competition Hall/Jakarta, Ely Cathedral/England, Riverside Church/NYC, St. Patrick’s Cathedral/NYC, St. John the Divine/NYC, and National Cathedral/DC. As a lyric baritone he was especially noted as a recitalist, and appeared with many leading orchestras, choruses and at major festivals in the U.S. He received a Grammy nomination for best chamber music award in a recording of Mozart with the Chicago Symphony Winds. For many years he was Artistic Director/Conductor of The Camerata Singers of Lake Forest, directed the Chamber Singers at North Park University/Chicago, and was Music Director at North Shore Unitarian Church in Deerfield, Illinois.
