Old American Christmas songs set for SATB, violin, harp, tamborine

February 8, 2011 by Pamela Marshall Leave a Comment

As you plan next season, I’d like to offer my new piece Shepherds and Angels for your Christmas concert. It’s appropriate for professional or skilled college or community chorus. Instrumentation is SATB, violin, harp and tamborine.

The prelude plus nine old American Christmas songs have a spirited accompaniment inspired by folk fiddling, 25 minutes long — a nice companion to the well-known pieces that include harp. Tune sources include William Billings, Southern Harmony, Ruth Crawford Seeger’s folk collection. At www.spindrift.com, you’ll find a downloadable score and audio demo, plus other music for chorus.

Thank you for your interest!
