BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA — The Kiwi high school teacher moved to England in 2010 to “get serious” about his singing career. Now he’s pinching himself as he finds he’s in the group’s royal court and about to embark on his first tour with them.
“I always wanted to be a professional singer, and I thought now’s the time to head across and give it a go,” says Christchurch-bred Bruerton about his move a few years ago to Oxford. Bruerton, 27, was a member of the Christchurch Cathedral choir and was in the National Youth Choir of New Zealand when he was growing up.
“I had no idea I was going to get into The King’s Singers it’s not the sort of the thing that you could really expect to aim for.
