Northwest Choral Society (Chicago suburbs) Meet & Greet

August 19, 2014 by Alan Wellman Leave a Comment

If you previously sang in a chorus – high school, college or community group – and are now looking for a great activity in which to participate during the non-summer months, the Northwest Choral Society (NWCS) invites you to a “Meet & Greet” on Tuesday, August 26.  The casual social event will be held between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 1095 Thacker St. (between Margaret St. and Jeannette St.), Des Plaines, IL.  The evening will include welcoming prospective members, singing, and debuting a video of the group’s recent road trip to Minneapolis/St. Paul.  Refreshments will be served.

For the 2014-2015 performance season, the chorus will feature Daniel Pinkam’s Christmas Cantata and Robert Shaw’s The Many Moods of Christmas at concerts on December 6 and 7, and a program on April 18, 2015 entitled “Annelise”, which is an adaptation of the diary of Ann Frank.  A June 13, 2015 family concert will explore the magical music of Disney.  These concerts are performed in various venues throughout the suburbs.

Through the Northwest Choral Society, singers who are at least 17 years of age with previous four-part choral experience enjoy the personal growth and satisfaction that comes from active participation in a performing arts organization known for excellence and camaraderie.  During the year, members sharpen their singing skills and learn a varied repertoire of sacred and secular, classical and popular music that has become the hallmark of the group.

The small size of the chorus (approximately 50 members) means members will see familiar faces each week, and find the group friendly, supportive, and fun.
