New Recording of Avshalomov “Light Dawns in the Darkness”

May 4, 2023 by David Avshalomov Leave a Comment

Dear Colleagues,

I am happy to share with you this new live recording of my recent a cappella setting of Psalm 112 for SATB chorus (divisi). This is a text that I have recited as a prayer every Sabbath for decades. It is the bookend to the Woman of Valor prayer, this one for the man who is righteous. I have always found it a comforting text, particularly the phrase “Light dawns in the darkness for the upright, for the one who is gracious, compassionate, and just.” Qualities worth working towards.

The setting is fairly straightforward, and not too demanding for the singers. Duration 5 minutes.
