Dear Choralnet users,
I hope you’ll be interested in some of my music – I mainly write for choir, and it would be good to hear from you with some details of what sort of repertoire you’d be interested in. I’m trying to make the jump from amateur to professional composer, and would appreciate your help in this if you think the music below is good.
If you’re looking for Easter pieces, I have a one-minute piece “Crux Fidelis” which you might find useful – it’s suitable for almost any level of SATB choir. I’ve provided a free sample:
Recording: http://soundcloud.com/hutchingsmusic/crux-fidelis-by-chris-hutcings (sorry about the typo)
You might also enjoy “O Vos Omnes” for six-part choir (SSATBB or SAATTB, could also be SSAATB if you’re short on men): http://www.hutchingsmusic.co.uk/ovosomnespreview.pdf
You can download further previews and some arrangements (which are FREE for non-profit use) from my page at http://www.hutchingsmusic.co.uk/freescores.html (most of the arrangements, lower down the page, are simple and three-part, as I’ve done a lot of work with choirs who are short on male voices). If you’re looking for a light, fun Scots piece, I recommend “Jock O’ Hazeldean” – this score is FREE for any non-profit use:
(the others on the page are of similar standard).
This Christmas I had pieces performed by Cappella Nova and the University of Glasgow Chapel Choir (http://soundcloud.com/hutchingsmusic/balulalow-chris-hutchings), and my arrangements and choir pieces have been performed all over the UK. I also write commissions (recently completed “Speravi in Te” for Choir and Organ Magazine, currently working on a Requiem for Amemptos Music).
You can hear recordings at:

and find more information at:

Please email me if you’re interested or would like to order copies of any of the pieces on my website – .
Yours sincerely,
Chris Hutchings
