New Melodies & Arrangements for the Holidays and beyond

May 25, 2023 by Arnold Harris Leave a Comment

“Maoz Tzur” (Rock of Ages) is one of the most famous songs for Chanukah. The lyrics come from the 15th century and the well-known melody is thought to be either from an early Protestant hymn, or written by Benedetto Marcello, a contemporary of Vivaldi. I’ve composed a new melody for these meaningful lyrics, focusing on those two words and also developing much interplay between the four vocal sections.
Your chorus and audience will enjoy singing and hearing my new musical setting for these lyrics.
Here is the link for listening and score perusal.
