El Noi de la Mare, (The Son of the Mother) is one of the most popular of the traditional Nadalas, Christmas Carols, from Catalonia, in northeastern Spain. El Noi is in Catalan, (with a pronunciation guide), and its lyrics tell of visitors to the baby Jesus deliberating on what to bring him – raisins, figs or olives to name a few. “Tam-pa-tam-tam”, the sounds of drums, is an important part of this song. I have integrated those “percussive” words throughout and added a hand clapping solo as introduction and ending to the music. Your chorus and audience will enjoy this beautiful acapella arrangement.
