Board Chair Dr. Lenny Farmer remarked, “I’m inspired by what continues to come out of conversations with such a wide-ranging and esteemed group of passionate people. Assembling this group of thought leaders is the culmination of many hours of tireless work by our Executive Director, Todd Wilson. We are very grateful for the many contributions from this group and have been realizing tremendous benefits for the last two years.” Wilson was quoted as saying, “I believe strongly in author Stephen Covey’s suggestion to “surround yourself with talented people.” “It is important for the members of our leadership team to hear from different voices and different sectors of our community. We are honored that so many well-connected people are willing to donate their time to help us achieve our mission to enrich lives through singing and the support of music education.”
About the Nashville Singers
In five years, this volunteer group has grown from four to 16 singers, learned a diverse repertoire of 50 songs, released two compact disc recordings, racked up 64 performances for 35 organizations in eight counties across Tennessee, and produced a successful concert series which has attracted 1500+ attendees from 41 cities in ten states across the USA. Their mission is to enrich lives through singing and the support of music education. This support comes in the form of music education grants, college scholarships, master classes for area schools, and an annual vocal performance clinic called Acappella Academy. Nashville Singers has also awarded $5,000 in music education grants and scholarships in the last three years, impacting 200 students in seven area schools and 60 other program participants. In 2013, The Nashville Business Journal’s annual “Book of Lists” ranked the Nashville Singers 8th in their list of the “Top 20” performing arts organizations in Nashville. The Nashville Singers, Inc. is recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
