February 23, 2011 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

Lewis University will present Philip Spencer, Professor and
Director of the Choral and Vocal Music at Joliet Junior College,
with the 2011 St. Genesius Award at its annual Arts Gala, to be
held Saturday, March 5, on the Lewis campus on Route 53 in
Romeoville. Noted for his accomplishments as a music educator,
conductor, composer and arranger, Professor Spencer conducts JJC’s
two choral ensembles: the Chamber Singers and the Chorale. He also
is the founding conductor of the Lutheran Youth Choir of North
America, an auditioned touring choir of high school students from
across the United States that will be performing this summer in
Germany. This will be the 25th presentation of the St. Genesius
Award at Lewis. Brother James Gaffney, FSC, President of Lewis
University, will confer the award.
